Involuntary muscles - The cardiac muscle in heart is an involuntary muscle, it is controlled by nerve impulses produced by a natural pacemaker called the sinoatrial node, the rate of which is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. Smooth muscles are found in the digestive system, reproductive system, major blood vessels, the skin and internal organs, and is also controlled by the autonomic nervous system.

Muscular system - The muscular system is the biological system of animals (including humans) that allows them to move internally and externally. The muscular system in vertebrates consists of three different types of muscles: cardiac, skeletal and smooth.

Alpha blocker - Alpha blockers (also called alpha-adrenergic blocking agents) constitute a variety of drugs which block alpha-adrenergic receptors in arteries and smooth muscles.

Muscular dystrophy - The muscular dystrophies are a group of genetic and hereditary muscle diseases; characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue. In some forms of muscular dystrophy, cardiac and smooth muscles are affected.
