Top quark - The top quark is a third-generation quark with a charge of +(2/3)e. Although all quarks are described in a similar way by the theory of Quantum Chromodynamics, the top quark is by far the most massive: as of 2005 the mass of the top quark is ...
Free quark - A free quark is a hypothetical quark that is not bound to another quark (or, in general, not part of a color-neutral) group. A free quark could be identified by its distinctive fractional electric charge.
Top quark condensate - The top quark condensate theory was an alternative to the Standard Model in which a fundamental scalar Higgs field is replaced by a composite field composed of the top quark and its antiquark. The top quark is chosen because it is the most massive among all quarks (its mass 173GeV is comparable to the electroweak scale).
Strange quark - The strange quark is a second-generation quark with a charge of -(1/3)e and a strangeness of −1. It is the lightest quark except for the up and down, with a mass of somewhere between 80 and 130 MeV.

An Introduction to Heavy Quark Effective Field Theory - Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) is a new approach to QCD problems involving a heavy quark.
