Metalloid - Together with the metals and nonmetals, the metalloids (in Greek metallon = metal and eidos = sort - also called semimetals) form one of the three categories of chemical elements as classified by ionization and bonding properties. They have properties intermediate between those of metals and nonmetals.
Tellurium - Tellurium is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Te and atomic number 52. A brittle silver-white metalloid which looks like tin, tellurium is chemically related to selenium and sulfur.
Silicon - Silicon (Latin: silicium) is the chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Si and atomic number 14. A tetravalent metalloid, silicon is less reactive than its chemical analog carbon.
Polonium - Polonium is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Po and atomic number 84. A rare radioactive metalloid, polonium is chemically similar to tellurium and bismuth and occurs in uranium ores.
Groundwater Geochemistry and Remediation, University of Waterloo - Summaries of research activities on the fate, transport and remediation of dissolved metals, metalloids and nutrients in groundwater, as well as development and application of in situ permeable reactive barrier technologies and reactive transport modelling.
Phytoremediation Research Lab, University of California, Berkeley - ... the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology, particularly interested in improving the efficiency with which plants remove and detoxify toxic metals and metalloids.
Keronite International Ltd - A company offering and licensing electrolytic oxidation surface hardening treatment of light metals, alloys, and inter-metalloids. Incorporates detailed explanation of process and applications.
