PC-based IBM-compatible Mainframes - Since the rise of the personal computer in the 1980s, IBM and other vendors have created PC-based IBM-compatible mainframes which are compatible with the larger IBM mainframes. They are also referred to as plug-compatible mainframes, a term used for the original System/360 and 370 compatible clones.
ZSeries - Since December, 2001, IBM designates all its mainframes with the name eServer zSeries, with the e depicted in IBM's well-known red trademarked symbol. Nonetheless, the term zSeries now popularly refers only to IBM's newest line of 64-bit mainframes, starting with the zSeries 900.
VM/CMS - VM/CMS (Virtual Machine/Conversational Monitor System, originally called CP/CMS when it first appeared) is a bundled pair of operating systems used on IBM System/360, System/370, System/390, zSeries, and System z9 mainframes (and compatible systems). (Other operating systems for IBM mainframes include z/OS, z/TPF, z/VSE, Linux on zSeries, and MUSIC/SP.
